Central Unified School District

Another key feature of the Running Horse master-planned community is its location within the Central Unified School District (CUSD). Central is growing at a rate of approximately 400 students per year, and is quickly becoming the district of choice by current families and those new to Fresno. The popularity of the CUSD is attributed to its efficiency and accountability to both its students and families, while maintaining an excellent curriculum.

The Central Unified School District is the third largest district in Fresno County. With a total of 88 square miles located seven miles northwest of downtown Fresno, it is the result of an election in 1981 when constituents in seven small school districts voted to unify. The district now has a population of approximately 12,000 students and outstanding staff of 1,300. Being the fastest growing district in the area, it is projected to open 24 new schools within the next 15 years.

Those schools within CUSD that students from the Running Horse community will be attending are Madison Elementary, El Capitan Middle School, Central High School East and Central High School West.
